This unit teaches students about literary techniques through writing fun poetry. It has 11 activities and lots of examples of poems using a variety of poetic techniques. As a teacher of English, I have found that by planning, writing and reciting poetry students learn literary techniques that they can use in their writing in a fun way. The literary techniques include:  Hyperbole  Metaphors  Similes  Personification  Repetition  Nouns and abstract nouns  Verbs  Onomatopoeia  Alliteration
